And me trying to impress my friend, Lori L. Miller.

Always looking for Smokey to the rear.

Later in the year, with SE style stripes, and the plates "TA DEVIL"

A twenty one year old with a Trans Am. That's asking for trouble!

No one was, or is cooler than my dad.

And in 1982, the 1979 Trans Am got married. And so did I.

But in 1982, I also bought a new MSE Trans Am.

Update, March 2010

If you are a regular to my site, or just visiting and read the story of my first new car, my 1979 Trans Am, listen to this.  I received a package today, from Australia, with some pictures, and several post cards.  Why is this important enough for my to include on this website?  Well, the package was from a Mr. Paul Morey.  The same Mr. Morey that I had sold my Trans Am to back in 1988.  I didn't have his name, or address, but he found me on the internet, and heard of my sorrow in selling my car.  He read that I missed the car, and often wondered what ever became of my TA DEVIL.  As I read each post card, and saw each picture, my eyes watered up.  He took the time to give me the complete history of my first car, pictures and all.  So now I have the entire story of "What ever happened to my first car".  What were the chances of that happening.  I guess the same odds of me selling the car to the one person who also had the same Trans Am dream I did.  Pontiac may no longer be, but the TA DEVIL will always be alive in both sides of the world.

Thanks Paul~~

In 1988, after much thought and regret, I listed the first new car I had ever purchased, this 1979 Trans Am, for sale here locally in Orange County, CA.  I really don't remember why I had to sell it, if it was my health going bad, or family issues, but this was the first of all my Firebirds I sold.  Over the next few years of selling this car, I had sold them all.  Anyway, after advertising this car for sale, a person called about the car.  We spoke, and we came to an agreement on the car.  I don't remember the exact selling price, but I think it was about $3,000.  I drive the car down to a hotel in Anaheim, where the new owner, now I have a name, Paul Morley, was waiting to see it.  When I met Paul, I remember he told me he was going to drive the car back to Canada, where he lived.  He paid for the car, and it became his car.  The TA DEVIL drove away, and left my life forever.  Over the years, I often wondered what ever happed to my TA DEVIL, and hoped Paul had taken care of it.  Once in a while I would find something I had collected during my first Trans Am life, and again I would be sad, and wonder.

What I didn't know at the time, was that Paul was going to take the car to Canada, but only after he finished his vacation here in the United States.  Here is a map Paul sent me, showing the journey the car took after he left Anaheim.  He drove it cross county, all the way to Florida, and back!!  Then he drive north to Canada, where he lived.

After I sold the car, getting ready to leave Hollywood, CA, and drive to Florida

April 1989, in Tennessee, still eastbound and down.

Still on the road, visiting Texas, continuing the eight month drive.

After arriving back to Vancouver Canada in September of 1989, the TA DEVIL became his daily driver for the next two years.  From Canada, Paul started to plan for his next move, this time overseas to London England.  Was it time for him to sell the TA DEVIL and move on?  That would have been the easy thing to do.  But for Paul, this was his dream car, just like it had been for me.  So instead, he had the TA DEVIL shipped to Australia, where Paul's parents lived.  For the next five years, Paul worked in London, met his wife, and waited for the day he could be reunited with his dream car.  Five years pass, and in 1995, Paul arrives in Australia and the next journey begins.

When Paul returned to Australia, he continued to care and treat the car as his dream car.  He drove to it to car shows, parades, and even the Winter Nationals in 1998.  He was doing what I used to do with my TA DEVIL, and what I do now with my Trans Am cars.  Half way around the world, and ten years later, we are connected by the spirit of this car.

Twenty years after selling the car, and thirty years after I bought the car, the years, miles, and some rust had taken its toll on the TA DEVIL.  So time to sell, or crush the car, right?  That would have been the easy thing to do, and cheaper way to go.  But not for the car of dreams for two Trans Am owners.  Paul has started a complete restoration, to bring this bird of prey back to it's glory days.  Now that I have been contacted by Paul, I will keep in touch and check on the status as the TA DEVIL is brought back to life.
